Memories: It was so disappointing when I heard initially that the Hotel Newton Opera had closed. I have fond memories of the hotel. My wife and I spent our honeymoon in Paris staying at the hotel. Before we left I had ordered a gorgeous sterling silver ring from my fav online store, but the package got lost when it was delivered to the wrong apartment in NYC. Fortunately, my neighbor discovered the error and shipped my new cubic zirconia ring to the hotel overnight. What a joy to receive my own wedding gift in Paris. It was also while there that we bought the lovely antique oriental carpet which now graces our dining room here in Manhattan. A month ago disaster occured. A bottle of red wine was knocked over during a dinner party spilling most of its content all over that carpet. My wife and I were appalled at the resulting stain. However one of our guests that evening knew of an excellent professional on site carpet cleaning nyc service and recommended we call. A representative was there the next morning, gave us a free estimate and explained how they would clean the rug. I felt comfortable hiring My Home Carpet & Upholstery Care NYC not only because of our friend's recommendation, but also because this rug cleaning company specializes in restoring antique oriental rugs. I can report they did a fabulous job removing the stain. Our honeymoon rug from Paris is looking great. And it continues to remind me of the Hotel Newton Opera and our unforgettable time in Paris.

This positioning likely made it a witness to, and perhaps a participant in, the area's evolving character over the years.
Closure and Legacy
